Grandma (George’s Marvellous Medicine)

Greetings and more, for ESOL we’ve been reading about Grandma

She’s the main antagonist in the story

This cranky old lady has a goal as to make George’s childhood the worst as it could possibly be.

Here’s my presentation to support what we’re discussing about today.

Summary

Granny asks George to feed her some medicine, George was told to not enter the medicine cabinet, so he tampers and mix a series of ridiculous ingredients to create her medicine.

Year 9 ESOL 2022

Greetings,

This year’s grade 9 ESOL we’ve done many specific things that involved literacy, forms of words, etc.

ESOL  is mainly a subject for people who need guidance in English. While they may live in a location where English is spoken.

Here are the brief highlights I can show you.

Term 1, What I’ve enjoyed so far 2022

Hello and Hi,

It is already term 1 and the somewhere in the start of the year. This is what I’ve enjoyed and liked about term 1 so far.

What I’ve enjoyed about term 1 was the new changes, and meeting new people. Everything felt different to me and I actually enjoyed it. I met really great people in term 1 and gained new great relationships.

What I am excited to try

  • New things or experiments

Subjects I am looking forward to

  • Japanese: I really want to learn a new language. I’ve heard gates in japan are opening soon and I’d really want to visit japan one day. I want to memorize the alphabet and learn new things. Right now I’ve only learnt

A I U E O (AEIOU is in different order in some languages)

KA KI KU KE KO, Numbers (Ichi, Ni, San, Yon, Go, Roku, Nana, Hachi, Kyuu, Juu)  and more

  • Home Economics: I want to learn how to cook and prepare food by myself. I actually find it very necessary for my learning because, if I live alone or am home alone I would know what to do when working with food.

Home economics used to be referred as Food science.

Learning about food helps me learn about health and hygiene and dietary things. I know learning in home eco will definitely help me in the future.

Goals for this term

  • Learn how to read piano notes faster and practice more
  • Improve in Numeracy and practice basics
  • Speak up more and improve in public speaking

Year 9 ESOL 2022 George’s Marvellous Medicine

Greetings,

This year’s grade 9 ESOL we’ve done many specific things that involved literacy, forms of words, etc.

Here is a brief introduction of what I think ESOL is.

ESOL  is mainly a subject for people who need guidance in English. While they may live in a location where English is spoken.

Why do some of us need to learn ESOL?

To improve our skills in public speaking with the English vocabulary,

To work and reflect on our spelling and use of words.

George’s Marvellous Medicine

We’ve done Vocabulary Exercises that gives us the task to sort out the form of the words that are written in a range of numbers. So we can identify the word’s form. We’ve used George’s Marvellous Medicine because , we’ve been reading it for a few moments and we’ll reflect on what we remember.

What exactly do I mean by form of words

  • Nouns – Words that specify a name of a place or thing
  • Adjectives – to describe a word
  • Adverbs – Words to tell more about a verb
  • Verbs – Action words
  • Pro nouns – Very specific words that identify people or etc.
  • etc.

This is the media of what I’ve worked on. I know it may not be completed but this is what I’ve done so far

About the Book

George was told to give medicine to his grandmother, so he adds a variety of unusual and strange things to create a medicine for his grandmother

I think this book was very humorous. It was kind of entertaining to read or listen to. Because it shows George creating a medicine for his grandmother. While the medicine has been mixed with very bad things that weren’t meant for consumption.

2022 Athletics review

Athletics events that I have practiced this term were

  • Discus: Throwing a discus by angling yourself and using all your strength to throw a distance
  • Long jump: Jumping as long as you can across the sandpit
  • High jump: Jumping over a bar in a certain height

Did I bring my PE gear each session

I think I did bring my PE gear most of the time but I think currently I am working on that

Did I participate each week?

I think I did not participate much but I did try a few things

Athletics at the Summer Olympics - Wikipedia

What I feel about practicing them and from my perspective

  • Discus’: throwing the discus was a bit difficult for me. Honestly from my point of view (could be inaccurate in others perspective) my distance throw was the least furthest in my class. why do I think so? I think I did not push myself hard enough to throw in a great distance or try hard enough. I know others might have a different opinion on being the least in class but I actually understand why. Next time I’ll set a goal to improve and at least try better
  • Long jump: long jump was actually okay for me. This time I think I actually tried harder. Because I was more intrigued to do it and was more optimistic. Doing long jump was brief and not extreme. I enjoy long jump a lot and will pursue to try and do better
  • High Jump: I dislike this the most. I’m sorry for others who may have different interests in high jump. The reason why I have that opinion is because I was feeling anxious about jumping on the bar. I jumped on the mat and didn’t hesitate, but when they put a bar in the same height as the mat I froze up and didn’t jump.

Honestly doing the athletics activities were very fun and active

Maths class Hurumanu1 2022 Term 1

Greetings, this year and term, for math at Mrs. Costello’s class, we’ve done several activities that involves math, statistics and things that were similar to art.

I will explain and show you what we’ve done.

Parabolic design

Super Cool Math Art with Parabolic Curves

for parabolic designs, we’ve lined numbers in the middle of the page. Up and Down, and across

Lining these from 1-14 creating a attractive design

Currency and Decimals

We’ve learnt to calculated decimals using financial examples like dollar notes, coins and etc.

Using images of money we calculate the amount in our heads and write it like this

10 dollar notes, 2 50 cents, 3 20 cents, 1 10 cents

which the total amount is $11.50

And learning how to solve math more simple

I –  Identify problem

D- Develop a solution

E- Evaluate

A- Assess your problem

What I’ve missed out on

(Fibonacci sequence)
