Week 2 ESOL

Hi, welcome to my blog. For ESOL, we’ve been doing several particular activities for this week,

Word wall

The game was fun and it put some of my punctuation skills to the test.

Punctuations

I used some blocks to match if they made sense

Telephone conversations

Clothing literacy

Idioms

I thought these games were playful and fun to use and also gives a help with our learning in ESOL

What can I do to improve? I can try not to be more rushing in the games and focus on being more accurate and remember what I’ve learnt in ESOL

What am I learning

Basic parts of speaking in english, punctuation, idioms, telephone conversations, and spelling.

Vocabulary Exercize, ESOL Read Theory

Tuesday 17th of May

Five new words I have read today.

Progress report on read theory: Across America, 05/16/2022, The Game Show Audition 05/16/2022

Knack

Diverse

Acronym

Immense

Populated

Sentences for these words

Marie had a knack for chess, which means she is skillful, and her knowledge for the game was immense.

She did not know what an acronym is. It’s the initials of a long word, like NASA and ESOL.

Our school is very big, there is lots of people so it is populated and many people from different countries are also part of the school, so our school is also diverse.

What Am I learning?

I am learning new words for my knowledge for my my vocabulary in english.

How has this task shown my learning?

this shows my learning through the definitions I’ve written down in the assorted sentences I created. This can help me understand more words when applied to real life situations aswell.

What do I need to know that I should do, to improve my learning,

I should find something interesting about the learning I do, to be more engaged and more interested to learn E

Grandma (George’s Marvellous Medicine)

Greetings and more, for ESOL we’ve been reading about Grandma

She’s the main antagonist in the story

This cranky old lady has a goal as to make George’s childhood the worst as it could possibly be.

Here’s my presentation to support what we’re discussing about today.

Summary

Granny asks George to feed her some medicine, George was told to not enter the medicine cabinet, so he tampers and mix a series of ridiculous ingredients to create her medicine.

Year 9 ESOL 2022 George’s Marvellous Medicine

Greetings,

This year’s grade 9 ESOL we’ve done many specific things that involved literacy, forms of words, etc.

Here is a brief introduction of what I think ESOL is.

ESOL  is mainly a subject for people who need guidance in English. While they may live in a location where English is spoken.

Why do some of us need to learn ESOL?

To improve our skills in public speaking with the English vocabulary,

To work and reflect on our spelling and use of words.

George’s Marvellous Medicine

We’ve done Vocabulary Exercises that gives us the task to sort out the form of the words that are written in a range of numbers. So we can identify the word’s form. We’ve used George’s Marvellous Medicine because , we’ve been reading it for a few moments and we’ll reflect on what we remember.

What exactly do I mean by form of words

  • Nouns – Words that specify a name of a place or thing
  • Adjectives – to describe a word
  • Adverbs – Words to tell more about a verb
  • Verbs – Action words
  • Pro nouns – Very specific words that identify people or etc.
  • etc.

This is the media of what I’ve worked on. I know it may not be completed but this is what I’ve done so far

About the Book

George was told to give medicine to his grandmother, so he adds a variety of unusual and strange things to create a medicine for his grandmother

I think this book was very humorous. It was kind of entertaining to read or listen to. Because it shows George creating a medicine for his grandmother. While the medicine has been mixed with very bad things that weren’t meant for consumption.
